Leicester City 2-0 Stoke City: Two Thunderbolts Help Maintain Foxes Revival Under Shakespeare

Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester City revival continued as the Foxes dominated Stoke City in a rather comfortable 2-0 win, in a match that saw a goal of the season contender from Leicester’s Ndidi.

The Foxes have been in incredible form ever since Shakespeare took charge, and that form has never looked like ending, with a display that looked like that of last yea’s title winning season. Whatever Shakespeare has done to this squad, it has worked miracles for them.

Stoke on the other hand never really looked settled in the game and never properly got going, they just let Leicester play the way everyone knows that they can.

Leicester City v Stoke City - Premier League

Leicester City started the brighter of the two teams, with a couple of very good chances to break the deadlock in the opening 20mins.

Centre back Benalouane had the perfect opportunity to at least work Lee Grant from inside the six yard box, but his shot went out for a Stoke throw in, when he should have scored. Fans would have been wishing it had landed to a different player, such as Vardy.

Leicester did break the deadlock in the first half though, and it came through a scorcher of a goal from midfielder Ndidi. A 25 yard plus bullet from the Leicester man flew past Lee Grant in goal to give the Foxes a deserved lead. Definitely a contender for goal of the season from the Nigerian.

The second half started exactly like the first. Leicester came out all guns blazing after the half time break and straight away doubled their lead, with another beauty of a goal.

This time it was Jamie Vardy, who smashed in a volley from a curling cross from Danny Simpson and they were playing just like last season’s Leicester City.

The Foxes, and Mahrez in particular, created many more chances in the second half, but they just could not find the back of the net.

However, it’s a great result for Leicester which takes them up to 13th in the table and looking certain to be in the Premier League next season. So overall the team and fans will be very happy with the result.

Stoke on the other hand will be extremely disappointed with their display, especially with them showing no real fight to get back into the game after conceding the Leicester goals.
