Picking the Best Potential Stoke City Lineup to Face Liverpool on Saturday

?Stoke City entertain Liverpool on Saturday having not won in their last 4 games in the Premier League, with their last win being at home a whole month ago.

Its been a while since Stoke City demolished Liverpool 6-1 at the end of the 2014/15 season, as they look to draw inspiration from that game knowing that they are more than capable of winning here on Saturday.

However since then, Liverpool haven’t been too forgiving as they have taken maximum points from the Potters.

Here’s a look at Stoke City’s potential lineup for Saturday’s game…

Goalkeeper

  • Grant

?With number 1 keeper Jack Butland still ruled out, Lee Grant will continue in goal for the Potters.

Defence

  • Johnson

  • Shawcross

  • Martins Indi

  • Pieters

Glen Johnson will likely return to the starting XI to face his former side with the right-back being the only change for manager Mark Hughes? in defence.

Ryan Shawcross will captain his side as they host Liverpool on Saturday and Martins Indi will look to keep impressing his manager in view of completing a permanent deal to sign for the club in the summer.

Midfield

?Ramadan Sobhi was an unused sub in the 1-0 loss at Burnley and is a doubt, but should be fine to feature here.

Stephen Ireland will definitely miss the game and Mark Hughes is sweating on the fitness of Xherdan Shaqiri and Jonathan Walters.

The Stoke manager will look to pack the midfield with long-ball players and speed merchant wingers as they target Liverpool’s weakness; counter-attacks.

Forwards

  • Berahino

?Sadio Berahino will play up top alone in the 4321 formation where he will be asked to cause mischief among Liverpool defenders Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren.

The Potters will look to breaking down attacks and hitting Liverpool on the counter with the former West Brom player looking for over the top balls.

If plan A doesn’t work, Wilfred Bony will be keen to get on the pitch to cause different types of problems for the Liverpool defence.
