West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has come to the defence of beleaguered David Moyes and called him a “great manager”, ahead of their two sides’ clash at the weekend.
?
A win for the Hammers would all but relegate Sunderland to the Championship if they are not already, and in turn, massively boost their own chances of survival.

Moyes’ Black Cats remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table on 20 points from 31 games and has endured a torrid time at the helm at the Stadium of Light, but he received the backing of his opposite number on Thursday.
?
Speaking in his ?press conference, Bilic said: “He is a great manager. But they [Sunderland] have had big names before, Sam Allardyce, Dick Advocaat have been there and somehow they managed to stay up
BILIC: “Sunderland is in a situation that they are desperate for a win. It’s also a big game for us to get closer to securing our status.”

In the last few seasons it has been a common situation and now it looks really bad but the majority of their players have been there before and they have done it.
?
“I know Moyes is a top manager, at Everton he made them come back to the position they should have been with the size of the club so he’s great but he can only do as good as his players.”

A win for the Irons could actually see them sneak back into the top 10 if other results go their way, but on the other side of the coin, a defeat to Moyes and a Swansea City win could mean they are looking over their shoulders once again. ?
