Southampton manager Claude Puel could name an unchanged XI for the welcome of Manchester City with potential eight players missing out from the match day squad.
The Saints beat West Brom in the last game 1-0 away from home with Jordy Clasie scoring.
Lets take a look at how Southampton could lineup…
Goalkeeper
-
Forster1
?England’s number two goalie, Fraser Forster, will be between the sticks against Man City and will look to see out the rest of the season in goal.
Defence
-
Soares2
-
Stephens24
-
Yoshida3
-
Bertrand21
?Southampton are still suffering from injuries at the back with very little depth they will most likely keep the same back four till the end of the season.
Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand will play in the full-back positions as Jack Stephens and Maya Yoshida begin to form a solid partnership in the middle of defence.
Midfield
Oriol Romeu serves the second of a two-match ban and with Steven Davis a doubt, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could start alongside Jordy Clasie once more.
The midfield will likely be unchanged following the Saints 1-0 away win to West Brom where back-up centre-midfielders Hojbjerg and Clasie played exceptionally well that day with the latter scoring early on.
Forwards
-
Long7
?Shane Long should keep his place and the lone striker against Man City on Saturday, however Puel seems to be rotating the Irishman and Jay Rodriguez around.
Both forwards will play, but one will be coming off the bench if the other starts. Charlie Austin is out whilst Manuel Gabbiadini is also a doubt.
