Alan Pardew Speaks of How 'Impressive' Mauricio Pochettino Was During Time at Southampton

Former Crystal Palace manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed just how impressive he heard Mauricio Pochettino was during his time at Southampton.?

Pochettino has been the key to Tottenham Hotpsur’s success since he joined from the Saints in 2014. Prior to his time at White Hart Lane, he guided Southampton into Europe and won many admirers for the way in which he brought youth teamers, such as Luke Shaw and James Ward-Prowse, up into the first team.

Pochettino has carried these qualities over to Tottenham, and has helped his new side challenge for the Premier League title for the second successive season. Whilst speaking on Sky’s Monday Night Football, via ??Football Insider, Pardew spoke of what he had heard about the Argentinian when he first arrived in England.

“For me, I was ex-Southampton manager, he came to Southampton and I had some players there and some staff there, I started hearing noises about how impressive he was on the training ground and how he was with the players,” Pardew said.

Last season, Tottenham produced their best finish in England’s top flight for over two decades when they secured third place, and they look to go one better this season, as they stand eight points ahead of third placed Liverpool with a game in hand.

The likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Danny Rose, and Victor Wanyama have all been superb performers this season, as Pochettino has again proved his ability to get the best out of his squad, while playing attractive football.

Former Saints boss Pardew remains out of work in football since his dismissal as Crystal Palace manager in 2016.
