Too many footballers have the personality of a wooden spoon – they are media trained to within an inch of their lives and fans are merely presented with robots at the end of games that try desperately to speak in the correct and professional manner.
It’s somewhat boring and unfortunately the way it’s always been, but there have always been a couple of exceptions to the rule – and character Crouchie is one of those.

Take his reaction to his goal against Arsenal on Saturday – it should definitely have been ruled out for an handball after he put in Marko Arnautovic’s cross, but it was missed by Mike Dean and co.
The lanky striker took to Twitter to share his take on the incident, and said simply ‘Slight suspicion’. Such a cheeky chappie.
