Peter Crouch kept his promise and gave a Stoke super-fan his match-worn shirt after the die-hard Potters supporter came to St Mary’s in a scuba mask and Speedos, according to a report by ?The Sun.
Tyrone Sidley, a life-long Stoke fan, made the pre-match arrangement with Crouch, via Twitter, and was treated not only to Crouchie’s sweat-soaked shirt, but also to an important goal from imposing striker.
Crouch’s goal proved decisive with his header on the hour mark sealing victory over Southampton on the last day of the season. After the match, the former England international approached the stands to meet the fan after their Twitter interaction.
The 36-year-old former Liverpool and Spurs man said he was sent pictures of the supporter’s get-up in a pub before the game.
“I saw him before the game”, Crouch said. “He sent me some pictures from the pub before-hand. It was incredible, fair play to him.
“I’m glad we won so I could go and have my picture with a guy in Speedos. Absolute hero and I am pleased we got the win for him as well.”
Sidley also got the chance to meet Charlie Adam who also gave him his shirt, despite not being in the team for the final Premier League game of the campaign.
Crouch joined an elite list of strikers this season, scoring his 100th Premier Lague goal.
