PHOTO: Hull City Defender Discovers He Is Being Released by the Club via Twitter

?Hull City defender Alex Bruce has discovered that he is to be released by the club after five years of service…via Twitter!

Bruce, son of Aston Villa manager Steve, was signed by his father in 2012 when he was manager of the Tigers, and has gone on to make 104 appearances for the club, twice helping them reach the Premier League from the Championship.

Bruce didn’t make a single appearance for Hull this season after suffering with injury, and was loaned out to Championship side Wigan Athletic.

However, he only made two appearances for the side as they suffered relegation to League One after just one season in the country’s second division.

With Hull suffering their second relegation from the Premier League in three seasons, they have announced a list of names who have been let go, and Bruce has been included on that list.

The only problem is that it seems Bruce wasn’t told of the decision beforehand, as he tweeted his apparent surprise at the news as you can see below.

The “Thanks for letting me know!!” suggests that Bruce wasn’t told that he was being released by the club, which isn’t befitting of a player who offered five years of service to the club, helping them to two promotions in the process.

And the banter continued when former QPR player Marc Bircham got involved:

Either way, good luck to Bruce, whatever he does next!
