?Tottenham Hotspur and Premier League rivals Everton are locked in a tug-of-war battle to sign Hull City defender Harry Maguire – following the clubs relegation to the Championship.
Maguire recently stated that he did not want to discuss his future until the top flight fate of Hull was decided and now that the Yorkshire club have been relegated and their boss Marco Silva has moved to Watford, according to the ?Mirror, the central defender will look for a move away from the club to remain in the English top flight.
With Maguire attempting to remain in the Premier League, it has attracted a lot of attention from Everton boss Ronald Koeman and Spurs’ manager Mauricio Pochettino – the pair have been keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old and will now be set in a £22m battle to acquire the services of the Hull captain.
Maguire will be excited at the prospect of playing Champions League football with Tottenham but would undoubtedly struggle to get much game time with Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld the main centre-back pairing.
Everton were strongly linked with Burnley defender Michael Keane but with Manchester United and Liverpool setting their sights on the former United youngster, it would be unlikely for Everton to lure him to Goodison Park – so Koeman has now turned his attention to Maguire and will look to beat Tottenham to the signing with more chance of first team football.
