?Newcastle and Watford will go head-to-head to sign Hull winger Kamil Grosicki, according to Polish website S
Grosicki only joined Hull in January but is one of a host of players at the club whose futures are uncertain after the Tigers were relegated from the Premier League – Marco Silva, formerly of Hull of course but now in charge of Watford, is eager to sign the Poland international.
The 28-year-old contributed three assists in 15 Premier League appearances for Hull but his efforts were not enough to save the club from relegation, with the Yorkshire side now facing the tough ask of gaining promotion from the Championship next season.
Hull would be eager to recoup as much of the £8m they splashed out for Grosicki in January should they allow him to leave the club, although a reported release clause in his contract may mean he is allowed to leave on the cheap as a result of their relegation.
New Watford manager Silva will be looking to improve the Hornets’ attacking roster after they eventually finished 17th in the Premier League, losing their last six matches and parting company with former boss Walter Mazzarri.
Newcastle’s strength in depth saw them bounce back from relegation in the 2015-16 season at the first attempt, with wide players Matt Ritchie, Christian Atsu and Yoan Gouffran all impressing.
Grosicki previously played for Ligue 1 side Rennes, scoring 15 goals in 92 appearances for the club, while he also represented Poland in all five of their Euro 2016 matches.
