Swansea City Reportedly Interested in €8m Summer Swoop for La Liga Midfielder

?Swansea City are reportedly set to make a summer bid for Eibar midfielder Dani Garcia. The 27-year-old has a release clause of €8m in his contract and the Spanish side may be keen to cash in on the player or risk losing him for free when his current deal expires in 2018.

Swansea boss Paul Clement is interested in the midfielder, having become familiar with the player during his time in La Liga with Real Madrid as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant.

After retaining their status as a Premier League side, Swansea will look to invest over the summer with a number of new signings, and according to Marca (via ?Sport Witness), it is thought that Garcia would strengthen the Welsh side’s midfield as the Spaniard is renown for his tough tackling and work rate.

However, Swansea will face competition in the race for Garcia’s signature as it has been suggested that Ligue 1 side Nice are also interested in making a bid. Nice also have the added benefit of being able to offer the player Champions League football after enjoying a successful season in the French league.

Clement is well-stocked in the midfield department, but with Ki Sung-Yueng in the last year of his current deal and with uncertainty remaining over the future of Swansea’s star man Gylfi Sigurdsson, the English manager may be tempted to add reinforcements.

Garcia came though the Real Sociedad youth system, but a loan move to Eibar turned in to a permanent deal in 2014. The midfielder has played over 200 league games for the La Liga side since he signed for them.
