McCarthy featured 33 times in the Premier League for Palace during the 2019/20 season, and with his form and fitness fully recaptured, he has caught the attention of a selection of top flight sides.

90min understands that Leeds, Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa have all spoken to Palace about McCarthy with a view to making a move for him. Palace paid £8m to bring the 29-year-old to Selhurst Park, and the Eagles would want the vast amount of this reimbursed if they are to consider parting ways.

Such a fee would be no issue for those interested – who believe the Irish international still has a lot to offer as a Premier League player.

David Moyes and Steve Bruce have been tracking McCarthy for a long time, and are confirmed fans. Villa meanwhile added McCarthy to their wish list after confirming their Premier League status on the final day of the season.

The Villans could have plenty to spend should talisman Jack Grealish secure a big money move elsewhere this summer.

Leeds have also made their interest known ahead of their first season back among English football’s elite for 16 years. McCarthy has spent the last 11 years playing in the top flight for Wigan, Everton and Palace, and the Whites consider him the perfect player to add some Premier League experience to the squad that won promotion from the Championship

McCarthy signed a three-year deal upon moving to Palace, with his Selhurst Park contract expiring in 2022.
