?Eden Hazard has boastfully claimed that Chelsea could have ‘scored two or three more’ goals in their 3-1 triumph over Arsenal on Saturday.
The Blues all but ended the Gunners’ slim Premier League title hopes by inflicting defeat on Arsene Wenger’s men at Stamford Bridge, but Hazard stated that the scoreline could have been much worse for their London rivals if Chelsea hadn’t decided to take their foot off the gas.
He told ?Chelsea TV: “We could have scored two or three more goals. We didn’t. We keep it for the next game (against Burnley).”
Hazard scored a wonderful solo goal that will no doubt be in contention for the Goal of the Season award once the 2016/17 campaign comes to an end.
The Belgium international’s slaloming run from halfway took out half of Arsenal’s side, with Francis Coquelin the only Arsenal player to make a meaningful challenge, before he progressed into the area and clipped a finish past Petr Cech, after bamboozling Arsenal’s startled backline, to send Chelsea fans into raptures.
It was a strike that the 26-year-old described as ‘one of my best’ after the game, before he added that manager Antonio Conte’s belief in Hazard’s footballing ability meant that he could take to the pitch and play his natural game every weekend.
Hazard said: “He asks me to do a lot. When we don’t have the ball, he wants me to defend and, when we have the ball, counter-attack and be free. To do something magic. For me or for the other team-mates, that’s what I try and do.
“We all enjoyed the game. The players, the fans, the manager obviously. We want this kind of game every week, but it’s difficult to keep to the same level every week. So now we rest a little bit and try, in a couple of days, to be ready for the next game.”
Hazard has now bagged 10 goals and four assists in 26 appearances for Chelsea this term.
